Own your energetic space

Let’s talk about how you can move stagnant energy to create a safe, energetic, happy environment around you no matter where you are!

Some of you may have made the same mistake I’ve made a few times: you’ve walked into a room, felt the energy of the room, recognized it as bleh, and then allowed yourself to be hooked into that energy. When you allow that negative energy to affect you, it can flip your mood upside down.

That doesn’t have to happen. Ultimately, we carry our minds, our energy and our attitudes around with us in our own little universe.  If we can get at the center of that, if we can be in control of our energy and environment, then we’re not impacted by the negative energy of others.

Here’s an example: Imagine you’re on your way to a vacation and you get stuck in traffic. If the people in front of you are playing around on their phones, not paying attention when the light turns green, you’d probably be a little annoyed, but you’d let it roll off you.

However, if you just had an awful day, if your job is on the line, if your relationship is on the line or you are pissed off already, you might feel more inclined to beep on that horn and get really fired up.

I’m talking about your perspective. Where you’re coming from really does impact how much the energy of other people can affect you. You don’t want to be a person that just wafts in the wind of the attitudes and energy of other people.

There are some things you can do energetically that will help you be a solid person who generates the kinds of environments that you want to participate in. Sometimes we think it’s just about getting rid of the negative people in our life, but to be our most powerful we have to be able to stand in the center of our own energy, our life force, our environment, and we need to stay centered.

Think about the types of feelings you love most. For me, I love feeling vibrant, I love feeling sensuous, I love feeling excited, and I love feeling happy. For other people, it’s about feeling calm. I’m going to teach you a few ways to anchor yourself in whatever that source energy is that you just love to feel.

That way, no matter what’s happening around you, you can be the center. You can be the pivot point so that your personal environment is the experience you want.

The great thing about anchoring yourself in your favorite feeling is that you can also generate that and create that experience for other people to step into. A lot of us are just used to going along with everything going on around us. Getting a blast of good energy from someone who knows how to stay centered can really make a difference in the lives of people around us.

I want to give you a couple of tips on how to anchor yourself in your favorite energy and then generate it for the world around you.

Grab a powerful mantra and add your emotion

Having a mantra or an affirmation that really serves you can be a powerful thing.  Your mantra can be anything, from ‘I’m healthy and happy and wise’ to ‘I’m abundant, I’m connected, I’m divinely guided.’ The point is to choose something that’s meaningful to you and that you can put the power of your emotions behind.

For example, if you’re saying ‘I’m divinely guided,’ don’t say it in a low monotone voice. Get excited about it! Put some serious energy into it! Get on your feet, hop up and down, and say it loud. Let that stuff rip!

 If you’re mantra is more about being peaceful, then go into a calm space in your heart, think of something you’re grateful for, and then say ‘I’m at peace, I’m guided.’

If your mantra is about sensuality, you could play a sexy song, kind of move your body and dance in a sensual way, and then claim your divinity by saying ‘I’m sensuous, I’m connected to all of life, I’m sexy, I’m alive.’

Watch your posture

This is so simple. Think about whenever someone is really sad or insecure not feeling well. Their shoulders are slumped over and their heads are down.

If you’re sitting that way a lot because you’re tired and you’ve been sitting at a desk all day, you can start to form a habit. It can get easy to start slouching, and suddenly you start to feel more tired and introverted.

Just like your thoughts can affect your body, your body posture can affect your mind. If you look up, bring your shoulders back and down, lift your chest and smile, you’ll be amazed how that actually sends good messages into your brain. Changing your posture can shift your whole attitude.

Change what you’re doing

If you can help it, don’t just sit in a pool of negative energy. Get outside. Go get some sunshine and put your feet on the grass. At the very least, go to a different room, put some music on and move your body.

How to change things when you can’t get away

Sometimes, like when you’re in the middle of a meeting, you can’t get away, but there are still some things you can do to stay centered in good energy.

Think of one of those moments that you’re really lit up and you’re feeling great, and then choose someplace low key on your body that you can touch, like your collarbone. We’ll be using this spot as an anchor point to help bring back the feelings of good energy.

Every time you’re in this pumped-up state, say something like “Yes, I’m owning life!” or “Yes, I’m as sexy as ever!” or “Yes, I’m feeling great!” Then touch your anchor point. We’re going for a conditioned response.

When you’ve been in a heightened state enough times, you can condition yourself to respond to touching your anchor point. If you touch your anchor point when you’re in a pool of stagnant energy, that alone will be enough to bring back those great feelings.

With time and enough conditioning, you could be sitting in a meeting where you absolutely have to be silent but you need an energy boost. You need to move that stagnant energy. If you touch your anchor point, boom! You could get that hit of power that says ‘I’m owning it!’

Touching your anchor point can move energy because you are the presence that is responsible for the energy around you. When you create your energetic environment and stay in the center, you manifest the most powerful version of your own universe. You also become a generator, an open invitation for other people to step into that space, which is really quite powerful.
